Schu’s Grill & Bar to sponsor Schu’s Memorial Golf Classic 2007
(ST. JOSEPH, MI) – Larry Schuler, Owner, Schu’s Grill & Bar, announced that Schu’s Grill & Bar will sponsor the Schu’s Memorial Golf Classic 2007. Mr. Schuler stated that the net proceeds from the Golf Classic will be used for the Molly Schuler Endowment Fund. The Endowment Fund was established at the Berrien Community Foundation to support programs that were important to Molly. The Schu’s Memorial Golf Classic 2007 is the inaugural tournament of what is intended to be an annual event. The classic will be held on Monday, June 11, 2007 at Berrien Hills Golf Club, Benton Harbor, Michigan.
The Molly Schuler Endowment Fund was founded by the Schuler Family (Larry, Jenna, Kaitlin, and Robby) in memory of Molly Schuler and is intended to support organizations with camp scholarship programs for underprivileged children and assistance programs for individuals and families with oncology care costs. The Fund will also provide assistance to Hospice, among others.
Mr. Schuler said that the Memorial Golf Classic is planned to provide an opportunity for golfers at all skill levels to enjoy the day. Teams can be comprised of all men, all women, or mixed teams. Whatever the makeup of the team or the team’s level of skill, there will be plenty of opportunities for recognition, prizes, and awards for both individuals and teams. The format of play will be a “Shamble”. A shamble is similar to the usual “well known” four person scramble but with a twist where all golfers literally play their own game and end up with a recorded score.
Plans are in place to make Schu’s Memorial Golf Classic 2007 a fun filled day that will be “packed” with special golf events i.e. Holes-in-One, long drive contests, closest to the pins, etc. The day also includes an opening breakfast, on course snacks and beverages, ending with an awards reception and dinner.
